Hello Beauty-Full Soul…
I often feel like I fall in love with Frida again and again…like just when I feel I have seen enough of her iconic face on treasures that I adore…I find more to love and lust for! Yet perhaps this is the mystery of her magic; Frida found herself and loved herself deeply.
Despite polio as a child, despite being bullied, despite a tragic accident that left her with debilitating pain, despite heartbreak and miscarriages and emotional suffering, Frida found an incredible strength and resilience and pioneered a pathway for women to be unapologetically themselves!
Her art is raw and real because Frida painted her passion - her passion for her Mexican heritage, for her culture’s love of colour and the Sacred heart of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She painted herself, a lot, and redefined what was considered beautiful. Frida honoured her sexuality and sensuality and couldn’t of cared less what anyone thought!
Frida remains an iconic historic figure because we see ourselves in her. To a greater or lessor degree, we can all relate to her fierce determination and wildly wonderful spirit! Thank goodness for Frida and her fabulous art that continues to inspire us to live our lives fully from the heart…rich in colour, courage and self-love!
I shall leave you with a quote: “At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can” Frida (1907 - 1954)
All love and blessings, Tanya xxx
